The Leap That Started It All

Gear Locker LA didn’t begin with certainty — it began with belief.

In 2018, founder Ricky Howard left Miami, Florida and moved to Los Angeles, California to chase a dream that had no guarantees. With limited knowledge of the city and no familiarity with its neighborhoods, Ricky took a leap of faith driven by one goal: to build something original in streetwear and create a space that stood for more than just clothing.

That leap landed in the heart of Downtown Los Angeles.

Building a Statement in Downtown LA

Against the odds, Gear Locker LA was built as a bold statement shop — raw, unapologetic, and rooted in culture. What started as a risk slowly became a destination. Every design, every late night, and every setback played a role in shaping the brand.

Gear Locker LA wasn’t just about selling apparel — it was about creating an environment that represented hustle, ambition, and authenticity in a city that demands all three.

Designed In-House, Sold Exclusively

Fast forward to 2026, and Gear Locker LA has evolved far beyond its beginnings.

Over the years, Ricky has created and designed more than four streetwear brands, all developed in-house and exclusively sold through Gear Locker LA, both in-store and online. Each brand represents a chapter of the journey — experimentation, growth, and refinement — while staying rooted in the same vision that started it all.

2026: A Return to Risk

But 2026 isn’t about playing it safe.

This year marks a return to risk — almost as if the clock has rewound back to 2018. The goals for 2026 focus on expansion, innovation, and pushing the limits of what Gear Locker LA can become.

It’s a pivotal year. A pressure test. A moment to see what’s possible when comfort is removed and belief leads the way.

The Next Chapter

Just like the beginning, nothing is guaranteed.

What remains constant is the mindset that built Gear Locker LA in the first place: belief, hustle, and the willingness to go all in. 2026 isn’t just another year — it’s the next chapter.
